Three ways to open a room on an iPad
Pair code at roomcherry.com/go
The easiest option on a keyboard-shy device. Generate a 6-character code for the room in the dashboard, open roomcherry.com/go on the iPad, and type it. The code lasts 10 minutes and is used once, so it can be shared with whoever is holding the drill.
QR code
Every room card in the dashboard has a QR code you can expand full screen. Point the iPad camera at it and tap the link.
Secret display link
Each room also has a long, unguessable link you can email or paste directly. It keeps working indefinitely, and you can regenerate it if a device is lost.
Making it look like a real sign
Once the room is open in Safari, tap the full screen control so the browser chrome disappears. Set Auto-Lock to Never in Settings, Display & Brightness, and keep the iPad on power. If the device is in a corridor, turn on Guided Access under Settings, Accessibility so nobody can wander off the page. The display refreshes on its own — nothing needs to be reopened after a reboot beyond the link.
Questions
Do I need an app from the App Store?
No. The display is a web page in Safari. Open the room's link, tap the full screen control, and mount the iPad. Nothing is installed on the device.
How do I pair an iPad without typing a long link?
Use a pair code. In the dashboard choose Set up iPad for a room, then on the iPad open roomcherry.com/go and type the 6-character code. It is valid for 10 minutes and works once.
Can I stop people leaving the display page?
Yes, optionally. iPadOS Guided Access (Settings, Accessibility, Guided Access) locks the iPad to Safari showing the room, which is useful for wall-mounted devices in public corridors.
Which iPads work?
Any iPad that runs a current version of Safari, including older models kept for exactly this kind of job. The display adapts to landscape and portrait.
